Applications for funding have been advertised under both the Biodiversity Fund (round 2) and Caring for our Country (CfoC) sustainable environment stream.
Both funds target specific areas, which in the NT are:
CfoC seeks to fund projects within these target areas, between $50,000 and $2 million, that address one or more of the following themes:
- conserving and protecting species and ecosystems (matters of national environmental significance);
- restoring and maintaining urban waterways and coastal environments;
- protecting Ramsar sites and values (no NT sites prioritised);
- protecting World Heritage sites’ outstanding universal value and integrity;
- Indigenous community capacity building for natural resource management, and
- natural resource management community skills, knowledge and engagement (must be related to the above themes)
The Biodiversity Fund seeks to fund a minimum of $500,000 (no upper level) for proposals within the target areas and which best target these three themes:
- biodiverse plantings
- protecting and enhancing existing native vegetation
- managing invasive species in a connected landscape.
The Biodiversity Fund is also seeking projects that enhance biodiversity outcomes of Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI) projects, anywhere across the country.
