Who are Territory Natural Resource Management?

I often talk about Territory Natural Resource Management, so in case you don't know who they are...

Territory Natural Resource Management is a non-statutory organisation responsible for coordinating a strategic approach to natural resource management in the NT. Territory NRM is allocated regional base-level funding by the Australian Government through its Caring for our Country (CFOC) program to address program targets and outcomes.

Caring For Our Country is a $2 billion investment designed to protect environmental assets, facilitate sustainable and productive land use, support viable rural communities and better engage with Indigenous Australians in these actions. Priorities for NRM investment for 2008-2013 are:

  • the national reserve system
  • biodiversity and natural icons
  • coastal environments and critical aquatic habitats
  • sustainable farm practices
  • NRM in remote and northern Australia
  • community skills, knowledge and engagement.

Territory Natural Resource Management provides financial, in-kind and partnering support to many NRM projects across the NT. It runs a local grants program offering up to $20,000 per grant, and Territory Conservation Agreements (TCAs) up to $50,000.
